ABCF has targeted primarily rural areas of northern and southern Ghana, for the initial focus of its programs. The nation of Ghana, located in equatorial west Africa, has a population of approximately 27 million people.

Despite the challenges faced by those living in its rural areas, Ghana has a diverse, service-based economy, and is known for its exportation of industrial minerals, and for its increasingly sophisticated manufacturing sector. The country, in recent years, is being recognized as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
