Access to Fresh Water/Access to Health Care

More than 3 million people in Ghana don't have access to fresh water, especially in the country's three northern regions. It is not unusual, therefore, according to WaterAid, for residents to make 40-minute round trips to collect clean water, four or five times a day.

While Ghana's universal health care system has been described as the most successful on the African continent, patients in rural areas, with poor availability of transport, often have limited access to modern care.
